New season news

Welcome back for the new season. Here’s our news...

Parent rota You'll be really excited to hear that the parent rota is now up in the club house and on our PARENT web page. There’s a rota for the parking, clubhouse and cafe on Saturdays. You will also need to do some of these jobs for Sunday matches. Your squad’s parent coordinator will enlist your help when it's your turn. Please take a look at the webpage to keep an eye on the rota and step up. U8 and U9 Red you’re up tomorrow!

Parents’ meetings tomorrow We’ll be doing quick 10 minute parent meetings tomorrow when you drop your kids off so please come straight to the clubhouse for a brief and highly entertaining induction!

Fund-raising fun tomorrow Don’t forget there’ll be a bouncy castle, cakes and football games for everyone tomorrow, so bring siblings and a few extra quid for Ryan Hayman's fundraising activities for the air ambulance.

Hoodies and raincoats U12 mum Liv Prowse has volunteered to take orders. Full details are on our website with sizes, prices and how to order. Please get your order to Liv by Sunday 24th September. Go to our KIT page.

Website pictures We really need a volunteer with basic experience to upload photos from presentation evening and sponsors’ logos. Our website is really easy to edit, so who’ll spare just a couple of hours? All parents will benefit and see the fantastic photos from presentation evening and fresh team pics.

Season medals We have spare medals from presentation evening so if you need to collect yours, just ask at the café; they are free.

Anyone for tennis? Fancy playing tennis on Saturday morning whilst you're up at the playing fields? Special KM membership of £5 per family from now until half term. Alternatively it's £2 per morning. Key from the clubhouse. Subject to court availability and whilst the clubhouse is open (9 to 11.30).

Player meds Asthma sufferers MUST now give their coach a spare inhaler in a named bag to keep in the med bag for the season, along with their written asthma plan (which has a ‘what to do if you are having an asthma attack’). NB: this is a spare/back-up for the med bag. They must also bring their own inhaler to each session/match. Players on other important meds must do the same and ensure the coach knows what to do.

Injuries and first aid: The coach’s med bag also includes head injury advice notes and our player accident insurance policy and claim form for you to take to hospital if your child is injured. We’re producing a first aid post and leaflets in the clubhouse, along with the names of 25 of our coaches/committee who are now qualified first aiders.

Welfare Remember Juliet is our Child Welfare Officer who has had FA training. Discuss any issues or concerns in confidence with her at an early stage, about your own or other children or adults. She works at KCC and can hook into a number of agencies and resources. We’ll also be putting info in the clubhouse.

Follow KM on Facebook We’ve launched a brand new Facebook page for the club to share news and snippets. It won’t replace these important emails or your coach’s Teamer alerts, but you’ll see more of what everyone’s up to, including a lovely pic of our old donated shirts being worn in Iraq! Find it by searching KM United and ask to join. We’ve kept the group closed, so only those involved with KM can see it and post to it. Madge and Lynsey are admins who will approve your posts.

Boots In a panic because their feet have grown again? Check out the range of boots for sale in the clubhouse, most under £5. Bring yours to sell. Please get your kids to take studded or muddy boots off before they come inside the clubhouse. Clean moulded/blades are OK on the black mats.

Match kit Remember all KM shirts are on loan to the player and must be returned if they leave. Lost shirts need to be paid for, £20. We replace (for free) outgrown shorts or socks that are handed back; you can replace lost ones for £5 in the clubhouse. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, 4 more teams get new shirts this year. If you get the chance, please show your appreciation to the sponsors: Mobilemec, Toad Hall, Rockfish and The Bantham Village Stores, Coffee Shop & Terrace and The Sloop Inn at Bantham.

Parking With more kids than ever and double numbers on match days, please use the overflow parking when it’s open (at far end of village hall car park, on grass). Please also help to set it up or pack away if you’re the first or last squad.

Fame in the Gazette Check the sports pages each week for match write-ups. And if yours isn’t there, ask the coach if you can write one – release your inner pundit in 250 words (remember to name-check each child and not be rude about the opposition!)
